Somewhere On the Beach, Sunday Morning

The snow around the island was melting. Not as fast as Jesse would've liked to see it go, but fast enough she knew it'd be gone by tomorrow, or most of it.
Then we'll just have sludge.
She let out a little breath as she stared out over the ocean.
I'm going to have to have a long conversation with the school board about the meaning of 'weather machine maintenance', she thought.
She looked down at the sand, and...
Wait, is that...?
She reached for a chunk of metal sticking out just above the surface, and gave it a good old yank.
"'WEATHER CORRECT'," she read - had to be 'weather corrector' - and turned it over in her hands. "'Product of Aperture Science'?"
A pause.
"I'm definitely leaving them a one-star Amazon product review."
